Pumpkins

Saturday was pumpkin picking day for us. We went with Taylor's sister Tina and her boyfriend Chris to the Red Barn in Santequin. We love to go there because they take you on a hay ride pulled by a tractor to the pumpkin patch, and it just feels more festive than finding the perfect pumpkin in a pile infront of the grocery store--not that we haven't done that too. We also love to go there because of their homemade ice cream. I could not decide between (or would it be among) lemon custard, blue berry pie, dark chocolate toffee, black berries and cream, and the classic cookies and cream. I know, they have great flavors. So I got a double scoop and ate almost half of it. I think I did that last year too--next year I will probably forget that I can only eat a single scoop and do it again.

Here's Max on the hay ride. He loved the tractor. I am amazed at how he loves everything with wheels--is that just how boys come? He had a front row seat and kept pointing at the tractor and saying "Uz Dis?" (translated--What's this?)

Anna ran all over the pumpkin patch, but fell probably twenty-five times. She would see a pumpkin far away that she wanted to go look at and then run straight for it without looking down, and every time after about five little steps a big, huge orange pumpkin would get in her way. I kept trying to remind her to watch out for pumpkins, but she was so excited, she didn't really mind the full body contact. Anna finally picked a very nice little pumpkin and then spent the rest of the time stacking rocks on top of it.

I am so excited for Halloween and then the holiday season this year because Anna and kind of Max get excited about it all too. I didn't realize how much more fun that makes it!
