Pumpkins

Saturday was pumpkin picking day for us. We went with Taylor's sister Tina and her boyfriend Chris to the Red Barn in Santequin. We love to go there because they take you on a hay ride pulled by a tractor to the pumpkin patch, and it just feels more festive than finding the perfect pumpkin in a pile infront of the grocery store--not that we haven't done that too. We also love to go there because of their homemade ice cream. I could not decide between (or would it be among) lemon custard, blue berry pie, dark chocolate toffee, black berries and cream, and the classic cookies and cream. I know, they have great flavors. So I got a double scoop and ate almost half of it. I think I did that last year too--next year I will probably forget that I can only eat a single scoop and do it again.

Here's Max on the hay ride. He loved the tractor. I am amazed at how he loves everything with wheels--is that just how boys come? He had a front row seat and kept pointing at the tractor and saying "Uz Dis?" (translated--What's this?)

Anna ran all over the pumpkin patch, but fell probably twenty-five times. She would see a pumpkin far away that she wanted to go look at and then run straight for it without looking down, and every time after about five little steps a big, huge orange pumpkin would get in her way. I kept trying to remind her to watch out for pumpkins, but she was so excited, she didn't really mind the full body contact. Anna finally picked a very nice little pumpkin and then spent the rest of the time stacking rocks on top of it.

I am so excited for Halloween and then the holiday season this year because Anna and kind of Max get excited about it all too. I didn't realize how much more fun that makes it!

And here we have Idaho . . .

We spent a very fun and exciting last weekend in Idaho with Taylor's family. Here are some favorite pictures and highlights of our trip.

The night we got there we had to play with all the toys for a long time. Great Grandma and Grandpa Davis came over and it was so fun to see them.

We spent Friday in Idaho Falls and took a much anticipated trip on Grandpa's red boat which Anna tells me about all the time now at random moments--in line at the store or while she's putting on her shoes. She says "I was so cited on Grandpa's red boat. It got stuck. Anna say"uh oh". Anna fix it." We did get a little stuck on some rocks, but Anna really had nothing to do with fixing it--we stayed dry in the boat and watched Grandpa and Daddy do that, but I guess you can give yourself credit for whatever you want to when you're two.

We drove up to Island Park Friday night and stayed there Saturday. My favorite thing about Island Park is waking up there. It is so beautiful! We played games all day on Saturday--a lot of games, and I was once the second-place Scud winner. Beautiful. We also took a walk outside before packing up. Beautiful. Beautiful.

Max had a rough weekend--actually days were really good, but he was up a lot at night. I could not figure out what was wrong and then on Saturday night I discovered three new teeth. Ouch. We have yet to take a trip with a really happy Max, but we got lots of hugs from a sad boy in the middle of the night and that was worth it I think. I will miss his four tooth smile!

We drove home Sunday afternoon and got home just in time for bedtime. I love going and I love coming home!

This Tops French Pancakes

I guess this will be my second post in a row centering on food--for me, a lot of things do. So we went up to Logan this past weekend and were lucky enough to be there on Saturday morning for my dad's homemade doughnut tradition. Every conference that I don't eat one of those doughnuts, I dream about them . They are so delicious--I can't believe that I made fun of that tradition when I lived at home. I am so much smarter now! I love you dad! I love your traditions!

While in Logan, we also got to go to the BYU vs. USU game on Friday night which was really, really fun. (but not as fun as eating doughnuts) Getting there was an adventure--thank you traffic cones blocking one perfectly good lane, but we made it through the canyon going 20 miles an hour in a car that smelled like throw up (I won't elaborate on that one). I'm not complaining, though. It was ALL worth it to see our BYU cougars. We had excellent seats--thank you Jamie who was FIRST in line, and we got to watch the whole game--thank you everyone helping with babies.

My Taylors

One more highlight of the trip--playing games--something else I wish I would have enjoyed more when I lived at home. We played an emotional game of Phase Ten Twist, or something like that, on Saturday night and, I laughed so hard--I don't even remember why. Why were we laughing Jamie?

Max had a cold while we were there and was not the happiest little boy overall, but every time he saw the dog he forgot all of his cares and chased. Poor Beamer! Anna was so excited to be sleeping at Uncle Wesley's house, and stayed in her bed made out of sleeping bags on the floor--Good girl! It is so nice to have so many people to hold and entertain and love Anna and Max--a nice break! So a successful weekend getaway--I, for one, came home feeling very happy--thank you to laughing a lot, being with family, and of course, eating, eating, eating doughnuts.
